Michael Pollack on EddingtonRecords.com - tracks
On a PC, the tracks should start playing automatically. On a smartphone or tablet, you might need to press the "play" arrow below. By popular demand there is a cool new "search" button. Or go old school and explore the menus. The first menu has our newest trending hits. On the covers I play all the guitar parts and sing all the vocals unless otherwise credited.
"Killing Me Softly With Her Song"
I heard she sang a good song,
I heard she had a style,
And so I came to see her,
To listen for a while...
And there she was this young girl,
A stranger to my eyes...
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song...
I felt all flushed with fever,
Embarrassed by the crowd,
I felt she found my letters,
And read each one aloud...
I prayed that she would finish,
But she just kept right on...
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song...
She sang as if she knew me,
In all my dark despair,
And then she looked right through me,
As if I wasn't there...
But she was there, this stranger,
Singing clear and strong...
Strummin' my pain with her fingers,
Singin' my life with her words,
Killing me softly with her song,
Killing me softly, with her song,
Telling my whole life with her words,
Killing me softly, with her song...
Killing me softly, with her song...
I always thought that Roberta Flack did this song first. Turns out that someone named Lori Lieberman was the first to record it, and dozens of people have covered it, freely changing killing me softly with "his song" to "her song" as needed. Besides Roberta Flack, the Fugees, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra,.,, Johnny Mathis and many others have covered this song. I hereby add my version to that mix. I grew up listening to the Roberta Flack version and later heard a lot of the Fugees cover.
