Michael Pollack on EddingtonRecords.com - tracks
On a PC, the tracks should start playing automatically. On a smartphone or tablet, you might need to press the "play" arrow below. By popular demand there is a cool new "search" button. Or go old school and explore the menus. The first menu has our newest trending hits. On the covers I play all the guitar parts and sing all the vocals unless otherwise credited.
Sbow Patrol
"The Lightning Strike"
[ part I - What If This Storm Ends?]
What if this storm ends?
And I don't see you
As you are now
Ever again
The perfect halo
Of gold hair and lightning
Sets you off against
The planet's last dance
Just for a minute
The silver forked sky
Lit you up like a star
That I will follow
Now it's found us
Like I have found you
I don't want to run
Just overwhelm me
What if this storm ends?
And leaves us nothing
Except a memory
A distant echo
I want pinned down
I want unsettled
Rattle cage after cage
Until my blood boils
I want to see you
As you are now
Every single day
That I am living
Painted in flames
All peeling thunder
Be the lightning in me
That strikes relentless
The original song by Snow Patrol just has piano and vox. For my interpretation I decided to add rain and thunder sound effects in the intro and the outro -- after all, what would a storm be without them? The Snow Patrol version should be asking not "What if this storm ends? ", but rather, "When does the frickin' storm start already? This sounds like a piano not a storm!"
I also threw in some synth lead, bass guitar, drums, several acoustic and electric guitar parts, chorus, and a string section. Some 30 glorious tracks in all.
I developed a melodic theme hinted at in the original. You could accuse me of beating the damn things to death. And I got some very helpful production advice from my great friend Ace Battiste.
